So, what's the over/under on a news report of a giant plasma explosion taking out half of Hawaii?

I swear, we need a class on Cope Failure here. With a big motto of "Life sucks, wear a helmet". Because a lot of people just aren't getting the point. Yes, your life is going to be difficult because you're a mutant. Guess what? There's no natural scientific law saying life's got to be fair or easy. Yes, people are going to let you down. Guess what? You'd better get used to it because it's not going to stop happening.

So you might not have the easy slacker laid-back peaceful life you mistakenly think you deserve. I suppose it's the trend now to let that blind you to the good things you do have.

I for one am not going to follow that particular trend. After classes today, I'll be taking on all comers for the title of Grand Foosball Champion in the second floor lounge room. Whiners, mopers, and cranky folks with delusions of persecution need not apply.

Hi. This is your lab partner who was in a sewer for several weeks and a box for several others saying, yo?

Shut up.

And you know what? It was because you screwed up, you came to terms with it, you got over it. The one thing you didn't do was try and blame it on everyone else.

Yeah, I know how easy it is to do the whole "Wah wah life isn't going the way I want it to so I'm going to be all angry and probably do something stupid" thing, because I did it. And we all know where THAT lack of judgement and maturity got me.

People just need to quit being stupid.

Uh. Yes, I did. Hence the whole IN THE SEWER bit. Dumbass.

(I've come to terms with the fact that everyone knows this story and thinks I'm nuts; howdy.)

I have not a clue what happened, in all honesty, but come on. Are we really going to get into one of those 'I have the right to feel my emotions!!' debates? It's just not the same without Manuel calling us all plebians.

Date: 2006-02-27 09:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
Indeed, this almost screams for Manuel to come in, tell us we're all being hypocrites and that he's going out clubbing just to spite us all. And if it weren't Manuel, I'd almost miss it.

So, foosball?

Date: 2006-02-27 10:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com
Indeed.

You're going to regret the offer once I trounce you, of course.

Too true, mate. Life's just a bit wonky at times. Better to just go with it than be run over, that's my motto.

Second floor lounge? I'm there.

Course, if life ever bit you in the ass, you'd probably just go clubbing or something.

Me? I think i'm good about handling stress. I haven't destroyed anything in weeks

Then again, Marius is the only person liable to bite himself in the ass when he puts his pants on.

Foosball! Only no fair using the little red disks. That's SO cheating.

Date: 2006-02-27 10:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com
So true.

Hey, if you're on my team then it's not cheating. ^^

From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
This is true. Plus we get an automatic edge over Marius if you wear something tight and/or low-cut.

Ah, the rose shirt it is then.

But! You! HEY!

Fine, then I'm wearing the black... thing. Forge remembers it. And Marius gets a visor that covers his vision for whatever side I'm on.

Don't think I haven't noticed you staring at my breasts. If you want to live in denial there's no need to get shirty about it.

Shirty? For crying out loud......

My rack's better than yours.

Now this I will not argue. Did I mention I like your shirt?

Not nearly as funny as when we scored three goals on you in a row due to Catseye lifting her shirt at opportune moments. Man, boobs are like your kryptonite, dude.

From: [identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com
Only when they're attached to Catseye. Cheers for that. Do you have any idea how long I've spent trying to induce hysterical amnesia? Notice me not asking why no one else seemed to take any mind . . .

Because she was standing behind me. Strategy, my young padawan.

So you had Cats flash for the sake of the team. Right.

When is her brother coming around again?

From: [identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com
Or thrown anything onto my head. I'm beginning to think you're slipping. Maybe I need to try harder. I do love a challenge.

There are other ways to deal?

You know what, John? You really need to just shut the fuck up.

From: [identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com
Hey, Forge? Shut up. Or better yet, take a look at the things he's upset about again and then shut up. This has nothing to do with entitlement or mutancy or anything.

So not taking book on anything related to this, or Dr. Grey's leaving again anything. This week? Book's closed. Make your own damn bets.

Date: 2006-02-27 03:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
Yeah, you're right. Maybe I should ignore it. Maybe I shouldn't be the only one who happens to realize that a guy who can (and HAS) explode and level a few city blocks is going on a drama queen tear simply because he doesn't like his older brother's choice of vocation and because he's having "girl trouble".

I tell you, when CNN reports about the next mutant menace going supernova in Hawaii, I have one big "I told you so" saved up.

Date: 2006-02-27 03:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com
And you figure that just because they're not posting about it on the journal system means that the Professor or Alison or anyone haven't thought about it? Or that being all "sucks to be you, get over it" where Alex can read it is going to help? I get that you're worried, and that's a reasonable thing to worry about it, but given that it's been proven that mutation is affected by emotional state, somehow I don't think being an ass at him is going to improve the situation.

But hey, if that "I told you so" is going to make you feel better, go for it. Personally, I'd rather try to help.

Date: 2006-02-27 03:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
You're damn right I'm worried. People do stupid things when they're irrational. And if you can read that and think that Alex is being in the SLIGHTEST way rational, point it out to me. He's pitching a fit over one thing that he's in the complete wrong about, and another that in the grand scheme of things is as important as a toenail clipping.

I'd hate to see how someone with that much power reacts when an actual crisis comes up.

Date: 2006-02-27 06:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com
Forge, you don't understand.

Date: 2006-02-27 06:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
Explain it then. Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me there's some mode of rationality to his behavior.

Date: 2006-02-27 07:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com
You are wrong.

Give me some time first.

Date: 2006-02-27 08:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-kitten.livejournal.com
Well, clearly you know more about what's going on in that post than I do, but tell me, is he in the wrong about whatever he's throwing away his engagement ring over or is that the thing that's not important in the slightest?

And feel free to tell me what qualified as an 'actual' crisis. Because if Mansion invasions count, I can give you a first hand account of his reaction to that, since he helped Shiro and I get the little girls to safety last time.

Come on, Forge, give the guy some slack. How people feel does matter and is important, and whatever's going on, he clearly feels like hell.
