Quick request

If anyone's going in or through the garage today, don't open the door to the shop. I'll be painting probably all morning, and this stuff is rather permanent if you get sprayed.

And I hope someone saved me some of the ice cream from last night's party. Why am I always the last to find out about these things?

Not for meeeee...

Great, now I want to come be colored green or whatever.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You can help, actually. The paint won't stick to, say, teflon.

[identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohlook! It doesn't! Not that we were surprised.

Did you know I'm pretty freaking awesome? Seriously.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a hunch you were something resembling awesome, yes.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There's three bowls in the freezer with your name on 'em. Cookies-and-cookies-and-cookies-and-cream (We, uh, had a lot of cookies), peanut butter swirl (And dude, when I mean swirl, I mean like, this stuff is about a fifth peanut butter), and Fruit. Random fruit. Ice cream for breakfast without Lorna coming and dangling you by your metal toes.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, except, uh, we forgot to label them. So it's your best guess which one is which.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I can actually pick things up with said metal toes now, it's pretty cool.

And no, no ice cream for breakfast. I have run into the Wrath of Dane too many times for my culinary indiscretions this past month. It's healthy living for me until she's out of town again. I swear, that woman has junk food clairvoyance.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I got away with it. Smoothie. It's milk and fruit and ice. That's totally healthy.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That's because no one can tear you away from your new girlfriend. One of these days the blackbird will find out about your cheating heart and burn you to cinders.

I mean, we tried to come and get you, (okay, knocked once) but still, the thought was there!

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
See, I only am allowed to admire the Blackbird from afar. She has other boyfriends who will blast me into little bits if I so much as lay a finger on her.

Whereas my car, we have a nice understanding. I get to tinker around under the hood to my heart's content, and am rewarded for it in return.

...wow, I could almost make an allegory there.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
What are you painting? I could block the paint or send it in another direction, but that sounds like more trouble than it's worth. It's better to let you do your work unhindered and then see the finished project.

I'm sorry you missed the party. Like Kyle said, there are several containers of ice cream left, but judging by how fast the ice-cream disappeared last night, they probably won't remain for very long.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
About to put the final touches on the car you saw me working on the other day. The paint job, anyway. I came up with this brilliant idea for heat-reactive piezo-crystalline paint that would actually generate electricity in the sunlight that could go directly to powering a peltier cooler inside the car when the engine's not running.

In other words, special paint that keeps it from getting all oven-hot inside, even if you park it in the sun.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That is truly amazing. Do you know for sure that it will work, or are you going to have to test it first?

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I know...

It works. I've never had anything I've built not work. Unless I've suffered some great head injury I'm not aware of: I envision, I build, it works. That's just how it goes.

That's what my power does - mechanical intuition and comprehension are as much a sense to me as sight is to everyone else. I can look at a machine and tell you how it works or what's wrong with it, and I can turn that around and use what I know to build anything I can think of. Anthropologists say that one of the first tests for sentience in a species is independent development of tool use. Well, whatever part of the human brain figured that out, I have it times like a billion. Big Mutant Brain.

Does it work? Of course it works. I knew it'd work from the moment I put pen to paper figuring out the electrochemical ratios. Of course, I *did* test it beforehand, because occasionally chemistry is unpredictable.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So... it works. Understood. A simple "Yes, I know it will work" would have sufficed, but thank you for the detailed analysis of your power. I had been wondering what it was.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
As I mentioned the other day, I am rarely one for brevity.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Your lack of brevity is hereby noted and appreciated in my "Things to Remember" list. As I said, I appreciated the description, I was simply surprised by its inclusion.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You can have ice cream with breakfast, you may not have ice cream for breakfast.

Speaking of which, I also made you lunch. It's labeled.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I did! Well, milk, ice and fruit! It's the same thing...

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you want me to enumerate the ways that's not an appropriate breakfast or shall I just glare.

Go have protein.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I did! I had a scrambled egg and bacon sandwich. And then a waffle. And then the smoothie.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
All right then. You're excused.

[identity profile] x-coldhands.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nutrition nazi. ;)

Ice cream for breakfast is an honor and a privelege, Dane. Don't rob the innocent kiddies of their honor.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Like I told Forge, if you have it as an addition to your balanced breakfast then I'm willing to give it a pass.

Don't start challenging me in my own kitchen, Drake.

[identity profile] x-coldhands.livejournal.com 2006-06-20 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
If by 'balanced breakfast' you mean hot fudge, whippped cream, maybe some M&Ms or gummi bears...we're on the same page.

Your kitchen...but the freezer is MY domain.
