x_maker: (The genius hat)

Bitten. Bruised. Busted.

SO totally worth it.

Thanks to Marius, I have my amazing mutant mental mojo back, and the docs say it's looking rather permanent. So in every way that counts, I'm back. For those of you that find this worrisome or disturbing, you cannot see it, but I am giving you the finger right now.

Also thanks to Marius (well, in a manner of speaking you can say it was MY idea to sneak out of the medlab with a patient but let us not split hairs when we can blame the new kid instead) - I am also grounded. Insert facetious "Mr. Summers is a fascist tyrant blah blah angst angst" rant here.

I am being allowed to go to the G8 conference next week, however. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

And yes, I have officially reclaimed the Genius Hat. It's mine, and you can't have any.

Grounded. I haven't been grounded since I was 8...

Congratulations, Forge, that's great news.

I actually prefer not to ground students whenever possible, because it seems like a self-defeating sort of punishment.

I do occasionally make exceptions.

No, I totally understand the point. Probably gave a few folks a heart attack or three cashiering young Mr. Laverne into a giddy scheme of gallivanting chicanery. The whole "better to ask forgiveness than permission" concept does have its drawbacks, as I am learning.

We've had Great Escapes before. Consider the grounding a placatory gesture to the fire-breathing Scotswoman, if you want...

Whee! *plots opportunities to flaunt freedom from grounding at him* Glad to see you got your mojo back, Dude.

Dude? You're a double-bacon genius burger again?

From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
Triple-bacon, even. Dang, now I'm hungry.

And don't be silly. I was always a genius, now I have a better understanding of just how much of a part my abilities play in that.

One, I am totally mocking you for saying Dang, because dude, Jay's brother says that.

Two, I'm hungry too. You think bacon burgers for breakfast are on? I think they're on.

Three. No, see, without powers, you're a geniusburger. With powers, double bacon. With cheese.

And what precisely is wrong with the word 'dang'? Jay uses it too.

Its totally a funny word. Dang. dang, dang, DANG. Its funny. Sounds like the noise that Forge makes when he hits his leg with something. Dang, dang, dang.

... thanks to Marius?

His power seems to absorb specific patterns of DNA from the mutant genetic structure. Thanks to the Neutralizer, the intracellular enzymes that activate those particular DNA sequences were suppressed. His power acted like a jumpstart - switching those enzymes back on, and in essence reversing the effect.

Which I believe is why your wife the brilliant Nobel-cred-swinging geneticist used choice words like "bloody stupid" and "ethically irresponsible" when expressing her utter glee at the situation.

And thus I find myself grounded. Ah, science.

Ooh, did she do the thing where she doesn't say ANYTHING but just glares at you and shakes her fist?

Eight? Mate, that's sheer laziness. My parents grounded me last month, and I was dying.

From: [identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com
From eight to fifteen, my parents barely remembered I existed, so grounding wouldn't have made a whole lot of sense anyway. Ah well, things are better now.

Easy way to avoid that. Every once in a while you have to do mad shit to remind them of your presence.

From: [identity profile] x-tarot.livejournal.com
... I must ask, what on earth could you have done to deserve to be grounded when you were dying?

Trying to escape hospital. With one of their volunteers. ...But it was her idea to use her supervisor's car. (No worries, he was a twat.)

So, the escaping from medical treatment is a hobby of yours?

When it's unnecessary and/or incompetant? Yes.

--nottosaythetreatmenthereisanythinglessthanincredible. But I'm fine now and we've even established I can do the food-thing without going all bitey and insane. Escapes aside.

And in my favour, I didn't steal a car this time. And I could have. Easily.

That is good. We need less insanity here, the quota is filled up already by people who do not generally chew on others.

That is fantastic news, man.

And you never really stopped being a genius.

No, no I really didn't. But I'm a lot more aware now of exactly what I *can* attribute to my power, and what's naturally learned. If nothing else, it's given me a clue as to where I need to focus my studies.
