I brought a blender down to the machine shop about... three months ago? Something to make myself a banana smoothie with while I'm working - Dr. McCoy pointed out that potassium's important or something. So I look at it and I figure - well, if I increase the blade size and the RPM, it'll work even faster, right?
Except there's this thing called cavitation which makes an air bubble around the blades, and if you make them go too fast, then the stuff you're trying to blend won't go near them. So I got the idea to pressurize the container to counteract the cavitation. Only I was really hungry and neglected to take a close look at the tiny crack in the bottom of the blender cup. Lots of cleanup followed.
Moral of the story? Sometimes a blender just needs to be a blender.
