It's official
Jun. 4th, 2006 12:17 pmDespite one of the more pleasant side effects of my mutation being that I don't need to conform to a standard sleep cycle, I believe that three separate clubs in one night and getting in scant moments before sunrise would prove the most likely cause for this immense headache.
But well-earned. That was a lot of fun - although for MY birthday, I think I may refrain from suggesting club-hopping. (especially since Terry's is only the day before and everyone will be exhausted anyway)
Although I think I figured out what was bothering me at that first club - their speakers were set up really poorly for their acoustics, and the frequency dissonance must be why the turnover was so high. Yet since it sounded fine from outside because lower frequencies travel better through walls and such... you know, I'll bet that's why the club keeps the music so loud, to attract people from outside, get them to pay a cover charge, then get a higher turnover of clubgoers when people leave for another venue. Given their location, they get higher walk-up clientele and don't have to worry about high retention - wow, I have been paying attention in my preliminary Business syllabus reading.
I wonder if I could build speakers that could mimic that effect. Directed polar sound platforms, computer-controlled frequency overlap...
I'll be in my lab this afternoon if anyone needs me.
