I know it's a day late
Nov. 25th, 2005 11:12 pmBut today's been all about lounging around sleeping off the mass caloric intake. And man, the place seems really empty when one of your suitemates has taken another one off to meet the parents, and the third one's sleeping off being a wolf.
First off, I'm thankful that I can say that with a straight face now. And then I can laugh about it, because despite the crap that comes along with our lives and what they bring us, we still can look at it and laugh at the absurdity of it all.
I'm thankful for family - both genetic and those acquired along the way.
I'm thankful for the small tufts of purple fur I find stuck in everything, because it keeps reminding me you're always here.
I'm thankful for the guitar music from the next room over that I can hear when the doors are open, because it reminds me that after the worst is over, you can still find things you love.
I'm thankful for the snoring and snorting when I'm trying to get to sleep at two in the morning, because it means there's someone just ten feet away that I can wake up and talk to at any time.
I'm thankful for neatly organized equipment and red pen marks on my notes and a lab partner who has a habit of grabbing me by my collar to either laugh with me or thump me on the head.
I'm thankful for frybread and differences of opinion and being crazy, all of us in our own way.
I'm thankful for fireworks and bikinis and bad pop music and laughter and the feeling of taking a place and making it your home.
I'm thankful to have a home.
